Description
A series of 75 progressive studies for elementary/foundation level flutists. This collection is suitable for study from day one alongside your regular tutor book, or it can be used for remediation or reinforcement of skills, or for independent study and sight reading if the student has begun lessons previously. Students are strongly encouraged to convey the character of each dragon using dynamics, articulation, tone, and tempo. The titles of the studies are intended to evoke imaginative discussion between teacher and student in order for the student to a) engage with the music and b) develop a wider emotional vocabulary to assist with discussion of interpretation later on. Skills covered include tone, articulation, dynamics, rhythm, intonation, and breath control.

Note, breath marks have been omitted as students' needs and rate of development of breath control varies in the beginning stages. It is recommended that breaths be taken every two or four bars, depending on the student's current level of breath control. Students should consult with teachers for help marking in breaths.
